I fantasized about being restrained for a long time but, although quite submissive, I don't like pain, like, at all. I had quite unpleasant experiences with rope and homemade stuff. Also, these cuffs reminded me of something about their origin. This kind of cuffs were invented for asylums and madhouses around the begining of the XXe century. Before, mad people were just stored in pits as social rubbish. typically, they were hold in chains. With the dawn of psychoanalysis came the idea that mad people were people, that mental diseases were diseases and, as such, possibly curable. Also, a lot of WWI veterans came back in a very bad mental shape, and it was not acceptable to just put them aside. They deserved cure. Although leather cuffs have since been involved in a lot of abuse, they were first designed to hold and restrain somebody who is not guilty of anything and who deserves respect as a human being. Somebody who should not suffer any more harm or pain, because what happens to him/her is not his/her fault. For me, some of this history and humanity is present in these nice "institutional" cuffs. Also, I bought them, like a year ago, I used them quite a lot, I've been quite mad with them, and they are still in an excellent shape, waiting to hug me or my SO at any moment.

We initially bought the wrist and ankle restraints in a set. After a couple of sessions I decided I needed to invest in the thigh and bicep cuffs as well.
